Court enforcement services
The Sheriffs Office provides a range of court enforcement services for individuals, businesses, solicitors, local authorities and government throughout England and Wales.
This page provides you with an overview of the various court enforcement services we are authorised to undertake using our authorised High Court Enforcement Officers (HCEO) and Certificated Bailiffs (Enforcement Agents).
Judgments for money
County Court judgments over £600 and up to 6 years old, High Court judgments, ACAS settlement awards and Employment Tribunal awards recovering the money you're owed. Our fees are added to the amount collected and are recovered from the debtor. Upon successful enforcement you will receive the money you're owed, your court fees and interest at 8%.
Possession orders
Possession orders for landlords, mortgage companies and local authorities within a matter of days if necessary. This is usually done under a High Court writ of possession where the claimant has used Section 42 of County Court Act 1984 to transfer enforcement from the County Court Bailiff to the High Court Enforcement Officer (HCEO) usually to avoid lengthy delays.
Recovery of specific goods
Orders for delivery which usually means the recovery of specific goods. For example, this could be the recovery of plant or machinery for a finance company.
For each of the above services there is a court fee for a Writ.
