I had a non paying builder whom I took through the ‘small claims court’ for payment, the court ruled in my favour for the sum of £2000 and gave the builder a county court judgement and one month to pay. One month later the court had not heard from him and said there was little they could do. That was when my son told me to contact ‘The Sheriffs Office’, I filled in a form for them and enclosed the court details, they then made an application to the court to recover the money on my behalf. One month later they called to say that they had been granted permission to visit the builder, within one week they had a cheque for the full amount, within 4 weeks they had also recovered all their costs directly from him and I had the full amount I was due paid directly in to my bank account.
