The Sheriffs Office – recovering 60% more!

by David Carter on 11 September 2010

The Ministry of Justice has recently released new figures on enforcement and collection rates. 77,292 writs were successfully cleared in 2009 (a 13% increase over the previous year), 28% of which received payment in full (26% of writs were paid in full in 2008).

The national average was 57.7p in the £1 collected on enforceable writs. This is quite a drop from the 69.9p achieved in 2008, most probably as a result of the recession.

However, the good news is that The Sheriffs Office recovered 93p in the £1 on enforceable writs during 2009 – a massive 60% above the national average!

“We have recently had reason to use your services after being recommended to do so by our solicitors. After a successful conclusion to our case we felt we had to write to tell you how impressed we were with the service we received. From our daughter’s first telephone call to find out which forms were required when she spoke to a very helpful gentleman named James, through to promptly received e-mails, your staff have been courteous and professional and we have no hesitation in recommending your services. Thank you once again for your help.”
